Communication is key to a successful event. To that end, P.J. takes the time to be in touch as often as necessary in order to make sure he has all of your favorite songs. He also makes sure he knows when and how you want them played.

P.J. works in harmony with your caterer, photographer, event planner, etc. and not only coordinates each facet of the reception, but he also acts as your advocate. He will check with you to make sure you’re ready before he announces any of the events and he will make sure the focus remains where it belongs, on the Bride & Groom. His calm, confident demeanor, acquired from many years of experience in the entertainment industry as a performer and a master of ceremonies, has a way of putting your vendors as well as you and your guests
at ease.

Once P.J. has performed his function as a master of ceremonies with taste and humor (when called for) his mission is to maintain the lively party atmosphere. That's when his years of experience really pay off. Knowing which songs to play from each era, including the latest hits, and when to play them can be the difference between a full dance floor and a bunch of wallflowers.

The P.J. Hyland Story
In the late ‘70’s PJ’s distinctive voice, good looks and disarming personality caught the attention of a New York music industry mogul who signed him to international mega label, Polydor Records (now a member of the Universal Group). The acclaim he earned as a recording artist combined with the fame he garnered as a performer helped him sustain a prosperous and noteworthy career as a headliner at concerts and nightclubs in the North East (Boston & NY, NY) through out the ‘70’s and ‘80’s. It was during the ‘80’s that P.J. expanded his repertoire and added the title, “Jazz Singer,” to his job description.
Then, in ’91, after he moved to California, P.J. brought his considerable talent and his experience, in the music industry, to the Disc Jockey profession. He soon became one of the most sought after D.J.’s in SoCal. While many D.J.’s have a functional knowledge of the music they spin, P.J. has actually performed many of the songs he plays. Plus, because he teaches dancing, P.J. has an uncanny knack for choosing just the right selection to fill the dance floor and then keep it pumping.
When P.J. sings Sinatra era songs, people often think he’s lip sinking. They have difficulty imagining that such professional quality sounds are emanating from their Disc Jockey.
